Moving FruitJuice data from one machine to another

Use the following set of steps to move your FruitJuice data file from one machine to another. It is broken down into steps to perform on your current machine and steps to perform on your new machine.

On the machine currently running FruitJuice:

  1. Open the main FruitJuice application.
  2. Hold down the Option key as you choose “Quit” from the “FruitJuice” menu.
This will prompt you for your admin password and then uninstall the low-level software. It will leave your data file intact.
  3. Locate the “BatteryProject” folder inside the “Library” folder at the top level of your startup disk. You will need to move this folder onto the new machine (see next section).

If you HAVE NOT installed FruitJuice on your new machine:

  1. Move the “BatteryProject” folder from your old machine to your new machine and place it inside the “Library” folder at the top level of your startup disk.
It may ask you to authenticate, please allow it, otherwise this won’t work.
  2. Download (or otherwise get) FruitJuice onto the new machine.
  3.  Run FruitJuice and follow the prompts to authenticate.
Once FruitJuice starts up, it should look like it did on your other machine, with your registration and subscription information intact.
Please note that it will likely show you TWO batteries in sidebar (we’re working on a solution for this). In any case, the battery in the machine will have the little computer icon next to it.

If you HAVE installed (and run at least once) FruitJuice on your new machine:
  1. Open the main FruitJuice Application.
  2. Hold down the Option key as you choose “Quit” from the “FruitJuice” menu.
This will prompt you for your admin password and then uninstall the low-level software. It will leave your data file intact.
  3. Move the “BatteryProject” folder from your old machine to your new machine and place it inside the “Library” folder at the top level of your startup disk.
It may ask you to authenticate, please allow it, otherwise this won’t work.
  4. Download (or otherwise get) FruitJuice onto the new machine.

FruitJuice 1.0.13 Update Now Available

We’ve just posted version 1.0.13 to resolve an issue that some users were having during a calibration/conditioning. It would result in the calibration/conditioning appearing to function properly, but no notifications would be sent.

Recommended for all users.

FruitJuice 1.0.12 Update – Let’s Crash One More Time…

We’re both happy, and embarrassed at the same time, to announce the availablility of FruitJuice version 1.0.12. A fair number of users running Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) were experiencing crashes during the update process. Like many Mac software developers, we use the excellent Sparkle update framework to perform secure updates to our software. We messed up because we missed the fact that the source code for Sparkle was moved to GitHub. The latest source on GitHub fixes the Lion crash on update. We’re sorry it took us so long to realize this.

So, go ahead and (possibly) crash one more time applying this latest update. After that it should update without a hitch.
